Smartmi Technology's founder, Su Jun, has collaborated personally with Chery on automotive business matters, which are entirely unrelated to Xiaomi Group and Xiaomi's ecosystem.
The spokesperson for Xiaomi Corporation further stated: According to a previous statement by Smartmi Technology, this collaboration is also unrelated to Smartmi Technology. Please be informed.
In March of this year, reports surfaced indicating that Xiaomi Technologies is teaming up with Chery New Energy to develop several new energy vehicle products. The first of these products has entered the engineering stage, while several others are still in the blueprint design phase.
Su Jun, founder and CEO of Xiaomi Technologies, as well as Chief Product Officer of iCAR, hyped up the new car launch with a classic Xiaomi slogan: "Always believe that something wonderful is about to happen."
Subsequently, Xiaomi responded by stating that since 2021, Dr. Su Jun, CEO of Xiaomi, has personally assembled an entrepreneurial team and initiated a car manufacturing project. In 2023, the entrepreneurial team of this car manufacturing project established a partnership with Chery. Currently, team members have integrated into Chery Automobile to collaborate on building the new energy brand, iCAR.
Xiaomi also emphasized that Xiaomi Technology has no equity or operational affiliation with this car manufacturing project.
