Xiaomi Responds to SU7 Unable to Unplug from Tesla Charging Piles: Issue Linked to Three-Phase Voltage Imbalance in Grid

On April 7th, reports emerged of users encountering difficulty unplugging their Xiaomi SU7 after charging on Tesla's AC home chargers.

In response, Xiaomi Automotive has provided an explanation. Upon analysis, they identified that after initiating charging, the vehicle's on-board charger (OBC) continuously reported errors three times due to severe three-phase voltage imbalances in the user's community grid. Consequently, the vehicle entered a protective charging mode, rendering it unresponsive to user unlock commands.

Given the inconsistent voltage balance in each user's community grid, Xiaomi Automotive plans to optimize the operational mechanism to prevent entering the protective charging mode due to errors via Over-The-Air (OTA) updates.

Moreover, if users encounter difficulty unlocking the charging gun, they can utilize the emergency unlocking cable as follows:

  1. First, click "Stop Charging" on the in-car display.
  2. Open the trunk.
  3. Use an appropriate tool to remove the trunk maintenance cover.
  4. Locate the emergency unlocking cable switch.
  5. Pull the emergency unlocking cable towards the front of the vehicle.
  6. This action will unlock the charging gun, allowing for its normal removal. s_ef5f8809c9f84b7780cdea67ccd1c5ea.jpg
