On April 13th, it was announced that in recent years, various platforms have been promoting auto-renewable payment and membership projects, offering super low discounts for the first month or initial period to attract users to subscribe.

Many long-time users find it difficult to cancel subscriptions and face continuous deductions every month, even if they no longer use the device or app.

Last month, Xiaomi App Store issued a notice to rectify behaviors related to automatic subscription renewal.

According to the announcement, the new regulations officially take effect today, with a particular emphasis on prohibiting default selection and mandatory bundling of auto-renewal subscriptions.

Here are the specifics:

  1. If your app provides services through auto-renewable or auto-renewal methods, user consent must be obtained, and the relevant services can only be activated after the user confirms for the second time. Default selection and mandatory bundling of activation are prohibited.

  2. Before users subscribe to the service, they must be clearly informed in a prominent and understandable manner about the content of the service, the amount and method of deductions, and other relevant information.

  3. The auto-renewal agreement within the app must clearly display and explain the cancellation methods for auto-renewal and provide convenient unsubscribe and auto-renewal methods during the service period.

  4. The auto-renewal agreement within the app must clearly display and explain, through prominent means such as SMS or message notifications, reminders to users five days before auto-renewal or auto-renewal, informing them of the service details, deduction amounts, and other matters. 2b2d09c4-fb3c-4a89-b4d2-f25752765270.jpg
