Xiaomi's Pioneering Features Return with Pangolin OS, Relieving Fans After Three Years

Mon, Apr 01 2024 07:26 AM EST

Have all Xiaomi users upgraded to the latest Pangolin OS? According to some users' feedback, the experience is not fundamentally different from MIUI. While there are significantly fewer bugs, some beloved features from the MIUI era, such as the itinerary assistant and reminders for deliveries and transportation, have been missing since they were removed.

The itinerary assistant, for instance, used to compile information from various booking apps like hotels, tickets, and deliveries, and then display it in real-time on the phone's lock screen or the negative one screen, making it convenient for users to check their upcoming schedules.

For those who travel frequently, this feature proves invaluable. No longer do they need to check seat numbers on 12306 when catching a train or worry about forgetting to pick up a delivery.

In fact, MIUI was among the first in China to introduce the itinerary assistant feature. However, it was removed in a certain update. Xiaomi users have since been forced to rely on third-party apps or MIUI's calendar and memo functions to manage their schedules, none of which match the convenience and functionality of the itinerary assistant.

On the other hand, other Chinese smartphone manufacturers like OPPO, Vivo, Huawei, and Honor have incorporated similar features, often dubbed as "XX suggestions." Even Samsung offers a comparable feature with its Samsung Life Assistant.

The good news is, Zhang Guoquan, the head of Xiaomi's mobile system software department, recently revealed that Pangolin HyperOS will begin beta testing the itinerary assistant this week, and it will be rolled out alongside the Pangolin OS update for the Xiaomi 10 series next month. ?url=http%3A%2F%2Fdingyue.ws.126.net%2F2024%2F0328%2F077f1642j00sb1ycg002dd200u0010pg00u0010p.jpg&thumbnail=660x2147483647&quality=80&type=jpg Since we've made the commitment, let's just wait and see. So, how's the current compatibility status of travel assistants (for high-speed rail, intercity trains, regular trains, express delivery, hotels, etc.) from various manufacturers? Please note that the latest version of Huawei's Smart Assistant now supports viewing train ticket itinerary information through real-time activity windows on the negative screen, notification bar, and lock screen. However, you need to bind your 12306 account and add the itinerary to the Huawei calendar after successfully purchasing tickets on 12306.

Actually, Meizu also has a similar feature. In Flyme 9, you can purchase train tickets through the "High-Speed Rail on Palm" quick app and display the itinerary on the negative screen. However, please be aware that after the Flyme 10 update, this feature has been temporarily disabled.

As a Xiaomi fan, do you think this feature is necessary to implement?
