On March 26th, Xiaomi's 14 Ultra, previously released in a Titanium Special Edition priced at 8799 CNY, stands as Xiaomi's most high-end mass-produced flat-edged smartphone to date.
Even at a price approaching ten thousand CNY, it remains in high demand, with continuous shortages since its previous release.
According to official announcements, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra Titanium Special Edition is back on sale today across all channels, offering only the 16GB+1TB storage configuration. It's priced the same as the top-of-the-line regular version at 7799 CNY, with a difference of 1000 CNY.
This is mainly because the Titanium Special Edition incurs significantly higher costs due to its titanium metal construction combined with the Dragon Armor architecture, greatly enhancing the overall strength of the device.
The Xiaomi 14 Ultra utilizes TC-4 titanium alloy, which is even more robust and stronger than the titanium version of the Xiaomi 14 Pro. It boasts a yield strength of up to 900MPa, making it more challenging to manufacture.
So, during the manufacturing process, traditional mechanical machining methods must be abandoned in favor of the complex and tedious MIM (Metal Injection Molding) process, followed by subsequent CNC machining and surface treatment to form the product.
Lu Weibing revealed that this version of CNC machining requires custom tools, with a yield rate of only 50%, resulting in extremely high costs.
In terms of core specifications, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra Titanium Edition features a 2K 120Hz screen, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen3 chip, equipped with a 5300mAh Jinsha River battery, supporting 90W fast charging as well as 80W wireless fast charging.
