On March 15th, it was revealed that Xiaomi is set to launch its first vertical folding flagship in the first half of this year, named MIX Flip.
According to the latest leaks from tech blogger Digital Chat Station, the planned satellite communication feature for the device has been scrapped. However, the device will still retain its large battery capacity and telephoto lens as originally planned.
It's worth mentioning that by eliminating the satellite communication feature, the price could be reduced by about 500 CNY. This is actually good news for the majority of users who won't use this feature, as there's no need to pay extra for something they won't utilize. A separate version with satellite communication could be introduced instead.
In other respects, the MIX Flip will also feature a domestically produced screen, equipped with zero-feel crease technology, making the screen at the fold much smoother.
The design features a dual-screen setup, with a secondary screen for displaying notifications, weather, and other information after folding, eliminating the need to flip it open every time.
Previously leaked design images reveal that the Xiaomi MIX Flip's back screen will be relatively large, displaying more useful information, making it more practical.
Above the secondary screen, there's a Leica imaging system arranged in a horizontal row, likely setting a new benchmark for vertical folding devices in photography.
