Xiaomi's First 5.5G Smartphone! Xiaomi 14 Ultra Upgraded to Support 5.5G

On April 18th, Xiaomi announced that its flagship model, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, has received an update for the new Surging OS, officially enabling support for 5.5G (5G-A) networks. This marks Xiaomi's first smartphone to embrace this cutting-edge technology.

5.5G is regarded as an intermediate stage in mobile communication technology, serving as a bridge between 5G and the anticipated 6G. While still classified under the 5G umbrella, 5.5G boasts around a tenfold improvement in connection speed, latency, positioning, reliability, and other aspects. s_b4df6ca7e82a418dab4642308e799741.jpg Its features include peak rates of 10 gigabits per second (downlink) and 1 gigabit per second (uplink), millisecond-level latency, low cost, massive IoT, and seamless integration (satellite Internet), among others.

Industry insiders point out that ordinary consumers may have difficulty directly experiencing the advantages of 5.5G in the short term. Mobile applications are basically unable to fully utilize such high speeds, and only when the network is congested can 5.5G demonstrate its advantages.

It is worth noting that the Snapdragon 8 Gen3 processor integrates the Snapdragon X75 modem, natively supporting 5.5G. This means that devices equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen3 processor, such as the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, can support 5.5G networks through upgrades. s_50d893934e674285b2f7faf0a6ac0ab6.jpg
