On March 14th, Kingsoft Office, in collaboration with Huawei, held a ceremony to deliver the core feature version of WPS Office for HarmonyOS Starry Edition. This not only underscores WPS Office's leading position in the realm of cross-platform office work but also signifies a significant breakthrough in the office segment for the HarmonyOS ecosystem. It provides a reference and model for other office software manufacturers. Looking ahead, the two entities will leverage HarmonyOS NEXT Starry Edition to unlock productivity in the all-scenario era and enhance office efficiency for users.
Over the past three decades, Kingsoft Office has adhered to a technology-driven approach and continuously delved deep into the office productivity domain. WPS, as the flagship product under Kingsoft Office, has long been focused on the pillars of "multi-screen, content, cloud, AI, and collaboration". With its strong compatibility, rich set of intelligent tools, and online document collaboration features, WPS has become the preferred office software for a massive user base. As of September 30, 2023, the monthly active devices using WPS have exceeded 586 million. Previously, WPS had already integrated deeply with HarmonyOS. In September 2022, Huawei introduced the "Huawei PC Application Engine" for tablets, enabling the desktop version of WPS Office to run on HarmonyOS tablets.
The delivery of the core functionality version of WPS Office for HarmonyOS Star River Edition marks a new milestone in the collaboration between the two parties. Leveraging the native interconnectivity and smooth experience of HarmonyOS NEXT, WPS can now run more smoothly on PCs and achieve seamless transitions and cross-device collaboration among smartphones, tablets, smart screens, and more. For instance, in typical team collaboration scenarios, the same document can be seamlessly linked between small and large screens. Edits and annotations made on smartphones or tablets can be synchronized for presentation on PCs or smart screens. Moreover, using a smartphone, one can directly control operations like flipping pages or playing videos on a large screen displaying a presentation. This addresses various pain points in office productivity, truly realizing efficient collaboration in multi-user environments. The WPS team has also deeply optimized the software for the features of HarmonyOS, significantly improving efficiency, power consumption control, and cross-device collaboration.
