World University Subject Rankings: Mainland Chinese Universities in Top Three, Tsinghua and Peking University Remain on Top

On April 12th, according to the latest QS report, American universities maintained their leading position in 32 academic disciplines, attracting global attention in academia.

Following closely behind, the United Kingdom excelled in 16 academic fields. Harvard University topped the list, ranking first in 19 subjects, showcasing outstanding performance. Following Harvard is the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), leading in 11 subjects.

Mainland Chinese universities have also made significant progress, ranking third in the global higher education system. A total of 882 programs from 101 universities made it onto the list covering 54 subjects, showing an increase from last year, trailing only the United States and the United Kingdom.

Mainland Chinese universities excelled in the Top 100 and Top 200, with 123 and 256 subject programs selected respectively. Following closely are biological sciences and materials science.

Ben Sowter, Senior Vice President of QS, pointed out that international employers are increasingly favoring Chinese higher education. This reflects the opportunities for collaboration between academic institutions in mainland China and the global academic community, which is expected to enhance the research influence of Chinese mainland universities across various fields. s_4b4de11d7f154c37859830fce2e00bff.png Tsinghua University has 42 projects shortlisted, an increase of two from the previous year, with four projects making it into the global Top 10, surpassing any other mainland Chinese university in this regard.
