On March 30th, reports from multiple domestic media outlets indicate that a woman, facing overweight luggage while boarding a flight, decided to wear the excess 4 pounds of clothing to avoid additional fees.

According to the individual involved, the airline's luggage allowance was 7.5 kilograms, and her luggage exceeded this limit by about four pounds. As per the airline's regulations, she would have been required to pay an extra fee of 500 CNY.

Considering the slight overweight, she opted to wear the surplus clothing to bring her luggage within the acceptable weight range.

A netizen advised that it's advisable to familiarize oneself with the free checked baggage allowance, baggage specifications, and weight restrictions of the purchased ticket, as these can vary depending on cabin class, route, and airline.

For lightweight items such as chargers, it's suggested to place them in clothing pockets to reduce the weight of the suitcase.

Additionally, some product packaging boxes inherently add to the weight. Disposing of these boxes (such as shoeboxes or the outer packaging of face masks) and packing items by category after removal can save significant weight and space. Traveling with friends may also allow for distributing some items among them for hand-carrying. s_7869f96591a24eb48182cef41e60671c.jpg
