Reports from multiple domestic media outlets on March 25th reveal that a woman in Anhui, China, was attracted by a large lobster displayed at the entrance of a restaurant on her way home from work. Upon purchasing it and preparing to eat, she discovered that while the shell was substantial, the actual meat inside was scarce, likening it to "a $100 lobster with a $90 shell".

In response, some netizens commented that appearances can be deceiving.

It's understood that crayfish, commonly known as lobsters, come in two varieties: green shell and red shell. Red crayfish have larger heads and prominent claws, making them visually striking. However, they contain relatively less meat in their tails.

In contrast, green crayfish have smaller heads and less pronounced claws, but their tails contain more meat. Therefore, after peeling, green crayfish may yield a higher actual meat quantity.

Additionally, crayfish need to molt continuously during their growth process, resulting in softer shells for green crayfish, as they consistently shed their shells to grow.

When consuming crayfish, it's advisable to remove the digestive tract (known as the "vein") and avoid consuming the hepatopancreas (commonly referred to as "mustard" or "fat"). s_48c26f8318204c98b633a4f0e27cffbb.jpg
