On April 8th, according to reports from several domestic media outlets, a woman indulged in five Qingtuan in a single day, feeling extremely bloated and experiencing continuous hiccups, with no relief the following day.

Upon diagnosis, it was revealed that the woman suffered from functional dyspepsia, primarily caused by overeating Qingtuan. After treatment, her symptoms vanished.

Qingtuan, also known as Ai Ban, is a traditional specialty snack from the Jiangnan region, also called Aituan or Qingming rice dumplings. It dates back to the Tang Dynasty when glutinous rice flour was mixed with Artemisia juice and wrapped around sweet or savory fillings such as red bean paste and meat. Sweet yet not overwhelming, Qingtuan carries a delicate and enduring fragrance.

Qingtuan is a traditional delicacy consumed during the Qingming Festival in Jiangnan households. Historical records trace the term Qingtuan back to the Tang Dynasty, boasting a history of over a thousand years. Traditionally steamed during Qingming, Qingtuan, although maintaining its unchanged appearance over the centuries, has transitioned from a sacrificial offering to a seasonal snack.

Doctors remind us that while Qingtuan may be delicious, overindulgence should be avoided. s_5748b29c622e483dbe983d3e238862cd.jpg
