On April 15th, it was reported that a woman driving a BMW in the overtaking lane of a highway in reverse for 15 kilometers in Hunan Province has sparked public attention.

According to reports, on March 28th at 6:00 p.m., on the section of the Shanghai-Kunming Expressway from Dashui to Huangqiao in the westward direction, a woman named Jiang, driving a white BMW 3 series, actually drove in reverse along the overtaking lane at a speed of 100 kilometers per hour for 15 kilometers.

The footage captured by the dashcam shows a vehicle driving normally suddenly encountering the BMW driving towards it in the opposite direction in the overtaking lane, forcing it to swerve urgently. The scene was extremely dangerous, leaving onlookers in cold sweat.

During the police investigation, Jiang admitted her mistake, saying, "I know, I was wrong."

She explained that she had set off from Xin'ning and was heading to Dongkou when she received a call from her family asking her to return to Xin'ning. However, she made a U-turn on the highway and continued to drive in the opposite direction towards Longhui on the G60 Shanghai-Kunming Expressway after getting lost.

As a penalty for this reverse driving behavior, Jiang was fined 200 CNY and had 12 penalty points added to her driving record.

Further legal consequences followed. On April 7th, Jiang was criminally investigated on suspicion of endangering public safety by dangerous methods and has been released on bail pending further investigation. The case is currently under further review.

Police remind everyone: driving at high speeds on highways, once reverse driving occurs and results in a collision, the consequences are extremely serious! Please remember, when driving on highways, never make a U-turn to drive in reverse. s_e6979288384945629b743afe9d3ab1a5.png
