On May 26th, Great Wall Motor's Wei Jianjun conducted a live stream self-driving tour with well-known blogger "Tiger Brother Talks Cars" to introduce Great Wall Motor to netizens and engage in interactive communication. (Watch the live stream here)

One netizen asked, why does Great Wall Motor create so many different categories? Currently, Great Wall Motor has several sub-brands including Haval, Tank, Great Wall Cannon, Wey, Euler, Soul Motorcycles, among others, which is quite a lot compared to other car companies.

In response, Wei Jianjun explained that Great Wall Motor is accustomed to category innovation, although innovation in categories does not always guarantee success.

As for why Great Wall does not make sports cars, it's because they have considered, "Am I BMW? Am I Toyota?" These car companies have established brand value, and when Great Wall Motor was just starting out, there was a gap compared to these companies.

They believe that category innovation is the easiest way to succeed and be remembered.

When they were making SUVs back then, they saw the market share of SUVs and vigorously focused on the SUV field. Haval later created a miracle for Great Wall, maintaining the top spot in monthly sales for 103 consecutive months.

Furthermore, the Haval SUV later spawned the Tank 300, forming an off-road category, with Tank becoming a benchmark brand in the domestic hardcore off-road vehicle sector. s_15d59dd9e1564d8195ebbd251017407f.png
