On April 30th, according to reports from various domestic media outlets, with the arrival of the May Day holiday, flight tickets have seen a significant drop in prices, surprising many travelers.

Taking Ctrip as an example, prices for several popular routes on May 1st have not increased, with low-cost direct flights still available. For instance, the ticket price for Shanghai to Urumqi starts at 690 yuan, Shanghai to Beijing at 460 yuan, and Guangzhou to Beijing at 530 yuan.

Experts point out that the intersection of scientific algorithms and post-pandemic uncertainties has led to increasingly exaggerated fluctuations in flight ticket prices.

At the same time, there has been an increase in the number of flights during this year's May Day holiday. Data shows that during the May Day holiday, 41 domestic passenger airlines are expected to operate 77,327 flights, averaging 15,500 flights per day.

Among the 41 airlines, 34 are expected to see an increase in flight volume compared to 2023, with Hainan Airlines leading the pack with a growth rate of 45.77%.

Due to the recovery of the tourism market and the optimistic outlook, airlines have been aggressively increasing their capacity. However, inadvertently surpassing market demand has led to a decrease in flight ticket prices. s_dc622529e7644e7b9540f4b5b2aa1743.jpg
