Recently, the Global Science and Technology Women's Innovation Forum of the 2024 Zhongguancun Forum was held in Beijing with the theme "Inspiring Her Vitality, Creating New Momentum." Wang Zhizhen, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World, and researcher at the Institute of Biophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, stated in the forum that in recent years, the All-China Women's Federation and other units have jointly launched actions for women in science and technology innovation, promoting the full coverage of women's science associations in all 31 provinces and cities nationwide. They provide heartwarming services such as health care, elderly care, and childcare to create a friendly working environment for female science and technology workers. The National Natural Science Foundation and the Ministry of Science and Technology have also adopted a policy of prioritizing women under equal conditions.

Wang Zhizhen emphasized that equal conditions are crucial. Women do not need to be taken care of; they need to be treated equally under equal conditions. Specific measures for prioritizing women under equal conditions include allowing women on maternity leave to extend the duration of their projects and increasing the participation of female experts in evaluations. Particularly, relaxing the age restrictions for female scientific and technological personnel applying for the Young Scientists Fund, the Excellent Young Scientists Fund, and the National Distinguished Young Scientists Fund will provide strong support for more young female scientists to obtain project funding and conduct basic research. This will provide strong support for cultivating more female leaders in science and technology. (Dong Zeyu, Xie Longfei)
