On March 30th, "Jiangning Granny" took to social media to sharply criticize a content creator known as "Mustard Foreigner."
"Jiangning Granny" expressed outrage over a video released by the influencer that condensed years of her ongoing condemnation of rumors regarding date rape drugs into "a few seconds," thus creating a massive rumor.
In the video, influencer "Mustard Foreigner" portrayed multiple characters, narrating a scene where a stranger girl passes a note to the main character. Unable to read the note clearly, the protagonist leans in and suddenly smells the "date rape drug" on the note, leading to the deception of her phone. The video captioned "Don't be too kind when you're out."
"Jiangning Granny" was furious about this, stating that despite the video's disclaimers such as "storytelling for entertainment purposes only," "no negative influence intended," and "do not imitate," such disclaimers couldn't excuse the dissemination of false information.
She pointed out that, based on her professional judgment, the content of this video undoubtedly constituted "false information or rumors that may cause urgent harm or threats to normal social order and safety," and even the term "may" could be omitted altogether.
"Jiangning Granny" urged short video platforms to take such videos labeled as "fictional portrayal" seriously and not let them serve as shields for fabricating rumors.
After being called out by Jiangning Grandma, "Mustard Foreigner" deleted the video and issued an apology statement on the short video platform. She mentioned that she hadn't verified the information before posting the video and was influenced by false information online, leading to irresponsible behavior. She deeply apologized for this and thanked Jiangning Grandma for pointing out the issues with the video content.
