In order to further study and implement the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping on the construction of ideological and political courses in schools and the spirit of promoting the construction of ideological and political courses in the new era, the School of Marxism at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as USTC School of Marxism) recently held a symposium for all faculty and staff at the Yuhuan Road campus. The meeting was chaired by Wang Tingda, the dean of USTC School of Marxism.
During the meeting, Wang Tingda emphasized that the promotion meeting for the construction of ideological and political courses in the new era is a redeployment and mobilization by the Party Central Committee following the symposium for teachers of ideological and political theory courses held on March 18, 2019, inspiring ideological and political course teachers and holding significant importance. The important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping conveyed at the meeting have set the direction and provided fundamental guidance for the construction of ideological and political theory courses in the new era.
Wang Tingda introduced three "news": First, "new judgment," the development environment and overall ecology of ideological and political courses have undergone a comprehensive and fundamental transformation. General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on the construction of ideological and political courses in schools have pointed out the direction for us to advance the reform and innovation of ideological and political courses. Second, "new progress," in the past five years, USTC School of Marxism has entered a period of great development. It is crucial to accurately grasp the new situation and tasks faced by the construction of ideological and political courses in the new era, further clarify the direction, take proactive actions, strive for excellence, and demonstrate new momentum and achievements. Third, "new deployment," the construction of ideological and political courses is of paramount importance in the Party's leadership of educational work. The key lies in guiding with Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, adhering to problem orientation and goal orientation, adhering to both upholding principles and seeking innovation, and effectively enhancing the historical initiative and political consciousness of synchronously promoting the construction of ideological and political courses and the theoretical armament of the Party's innovation.
Chang Zheng, the vice dean of USTC School of Marxism, pointed out that the key to running ideological and political courses well lies in the ideological and political course teachers. The primary duty of ideological and political course teachers is to teach the courses well. They must consciously use Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era to arm their minds, be exemplary in learning and practicing Marxism, set an example as learners and educators, and continuously promote reform and innovation in ideological and political courses.
