On May 28th, news broke that the AMD Zen5 architecture seems to be arriving earlier than expected. The Ryzen 9000 series for desktops is rumored to be unveiled at the beginning of June during the Taipei Computer Show, with a release date set for the end of July. Meanwhile, in the mobile sector, the Strix Point, also based on the Zen5 architecture, will follow shortly after.
Initially named the Ryzen 8050 series or Ryzen 9050 series, Strix Point was later rebranded as the Ryzen AI 100 series to emphasize its AI capabilities. To avoid falling behind in the digital generation, it was once again renamed to the Ryzen AI 300 series—Intel's next generation being the Core Ultra 200 series.
AMD's official statement regarding the release of Strix Point has always been later this year or in the second half of the year.
According to Shenzhen OEM manufacturer Aoostar, the Ryzen AI 300 series will be officially announced at the Taipei Computer Show in June, with shipments to OEM manufacturers starting in August and mass production slated for October.
Interestingly, Aoostar primarily focuses on mini PCs, and historically, mini PCs have been slower in adopting new platforms. This time, they have surprisingly leaked the information ahead of time and were the first to follow up.
This might indicate that AMD's new processors are indeed appealing and that production capacity is not an issue.
By the way, Tianba also further disclosed the situation of the new RX 7650M XT graphics card, which seems to be designed for external graphics cards for mini PCs. In terms of specifications, it should be an upgraded version of the RX 7600M XT, with the maximum power consumption unlocked from 120W to 130W.
