On March 20, CCTV's 3.15 Gala exposed that Funan City Spring Food Co., Ltd., Anhui Donghui Food Technology Co., Ltd., and Anhui Master Chef Food Co., Ltd. were using inadequately processed trough meat to make Dongpo pork.

According to several domestic media outlets, Funan City Spring Food Co., Ltd. had been doing brisk business before the 3.15 Gala exposure. Locals reported that the food company was constantly hiring workers.

Industry Experts Comment on Trough Meat Issue

Experts have stressed that the trough meat incident has not only raised consumer awareness but has also sounded an alarm for the live-streaming e-commerce industry. The industry needs to strengthen self-discipline, avoid false and misleading advertising, and strictly control product quality to ensure the reliability and authenticity of its products. Additionally, improving after-sales service is crucial to provide consumers with a convenient and efficient experience.

According to available information, trough meat refers to the meat connecting the pig's head to its torso. In some regions, it is known as "blade meat" or "blood neck meat." Generally, a pig weighing around 200 kilograms yields approximately ten kilograms of trough meat.

Nutritionists have pointed out that meat from this area contains a substantial amount of lymphoid tissue, also known as "lymphatic meat" in everyday language. Lymph nodes are part of an animal's immune system and the primary site for combating bacteria and viruses. As such, they may contain harmful substances such as bacteria and viruses.

Therefore, consuming trough meat poses potential health risks. s_db80fda72aab476b84ff8b20888e3738.jpg
