Regarding the incident of "spending money to experience a 'thousand-person banquet' filled with peanuts and edamame," on the evening of April 13th, the Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television, and Sports Bureau of Baoting Li and Miao Autonomous County in Hainan Province issued an announcement stating that the situation circulated on the internet is essentially true.
Officials stated that they will continue to crackdown firmly on illegal activities that infringe upon the legitimate rights and interests of tourists, and will strictly deal with behaviors that disrupt the tourism market order in Baoting with a "zero tolerance" attitude.
According to the announcement, businesses will provide full refunds to tourists who participated in the activities, and consumers can apply for refunds with their tickets and payment records.
