They inhabit the waters around the Galapagos Islands and are an extremely unusual species of fish.
The top image shows its appearance in its youth, with a mouth that looks like it has been smeared with too much lipstick. The bottom image shows its appearance as an adult, with its dorsal fin transformed into spiky protrusions resembling a headgear.
This structure is believed to be used to lure prey, which will be eaten once they get close to it.
Interestingly, these fish are not good swimmers; instead, they prefer to walk on the seabed using their unique four legs.
The structure of these four legs evolved from pectoral fins, making them look quite similar to quadrupedal animals on land when they walk.
They typically live in coral reefs at depths of 120 meters, hiding themselves. They don't need to swim much, instead, their crawling ability is more important, hence the development of this walking capability.
Forgive me for being blunt, but this fish bears some resemblance to a flower!
