On April 17th, according to reports from various domestic media outlets, in Luoyang, Henan Province, the world's first diamond made from peony has appeared, with this "peony diamond" boasting a stunning 3 carats.

According to experts, the peony diamond is made from carbon elements extracted from a Luoyang red peony.

As is well known, the natural form of a diamond is diamond, which is a mineral composed of carbon elements and is an allotrope of carbon similar to graphite. Typically, diamonds are "hidden" about 150 kilometers deep within the Earth's crust and take billions of years to form after experiencing extremely high pressure and temperatures exceeding 1000°C.

However, with the advancement of technology, laboratories can also cultivate diamonds. Previously, scientists successfully extracted carbon elements from hair and used them to make diamonds.

Hair is mainly composed of keratin and has a certain heat resistance. Under vacuum conditions, when hair is heated beyond a certain degree, carbonization occurs. After carbonization, there are almost no other components in the hair except carbon elements, which are the components of diamonds. Therefore, as long as carbon elements are extracted from hair, they can be used to make diamonds.

To the human eye, laboratory-cultivated diamonds and natural diamonds appear indistinguishable, with their differences only discernible through specialized instruments. s_44e9d1abb04b49518dbce6a3694f84a8.jpg
