On April 12th, OPPO announced the A3 Pro, claiming it achieves all-round waterproof functionality.
According to official sources, the A3 Pro is the first smartphone to be certified with IP69, IP68, and IP66 ratings, providing features such as resistance to splashes, hot water, and spray.
Moreover, Liu Bo, President of OPPO China, introduced an industry-exclusive "Waterproof Warranty" policy for the A3 Pro to support its waterproof selling point.
However, despite many smartphones on the market claiming to support IP68-level waterproofing, in reality, manufacturers typically do not provide warranties if the phone suffers water damage.
This is because most waterproof phone declarations typically include: "Water resistance, dust resistance, and splash resistance are not permanent and may decrease over time due to normal wear and tear. Do not charge in a wet environment."
In everyday use, phones can experience impacts or falls, which can cause slight deformations in phone components, thereby reducing or even eliminating their waterproof and dustproof capabilities.
Therefore, despite some manufacturers showcasing scenes of phones being submerged, swimming, or falling into water in their advertisements, consumers should remain rational and avoid being misled.
