On April 12th, OPPO unveiled the A3 Pro, boasting full-scale waterproof capabilities.
According to official statements, the A3 Pro is the first smartphone to receive IP69, IP68, and IP66 certifications for waterproofing, featuring functions such as water, hot water, and spray resistance.
Furthermore, Liu Bo, President of OPPO China, introduced an industry-exclusive "Waterproof Assurance" policy for the A3 Pro to support its waterproof selling point.
However, despite many smartphones on the market claiming to support IP68 waterproofing, in reality, manufacturers typically do not provide warranties if the device suffers water damage.
This is because most waterproof smartphone disclaimers mention: "Water resistance, dust resistance, and splash resistance are not permanent and may decrease as a result of normal wear. Do not charge in a wet environment."
In everyday use, phones may suffer impacts or drops, causing tiny deformations in their components, thus reducing or even eliminating their water and dust resistance.
Therefore, despite some manufacturers showcasing scenarios of phones diving, swimming, or falling into water in advertisements, consumers should maintain rationality and avoid being misled.
