This is a cross-section of the current deepest cave in the world, known as the Voronya Cave, located in the Abkhazia region of Georgia, with explored sections reaching a depth of 2212 meters. However, the first recorded exploration took place in 1968, limited by equipment to a depth of just 115 meters.

Since then, expeditions from various countries have challenged this cave, steadily pushing its depth with each successive exploration. The exploration halted beyond this point due to encountering a massive underground river system comprised of nearly horizontal passages.

In 2018, equipped with instruments, they ventured back into the cave, measuring the depth of the water to be approximately 8.5 meters, solidifying the cave's depth at 2212 meters.

Notably, during an expedition in August 2021, another team discovered a human body suspended at 1100 meters deep within the cave. S38e370d0-8d89-4724-8f77-cff8a9d0addf.png The corpse was eventually identified as Sergei Kozeev, a Russian explorer who set out on a solo cave expedition in 2020.

However, he met with an accident during the climb, getting suspended in a position where he couldn't free himself, ultimately succumbing to hypothermia.

Human fascination with caves runs deep, perhaps echoing our ancestors' history of dwelling in such environments.
