On March 10th, Deep Blue Motors, a subsidiary of Changan Automobile, announced that the "Deep Blue Super Extended Range Evolution Day and G318 Unveiling Conference" will be held in Chengdu on March 18th. The G318, Deep Blue's inaugural hardcore off-road vehicle, will be unveiled during the event.
With the roaring success of models like the Changan CS75 Plus and Tank 400Hi4-T, more and more automakers are diving into the rugged off-road vehicle market, opting for hybrid powertrains to meet consumer demands.
According to official images, the styling of the Deep Blue G318 is futuristic and rugged, with a distinctive front face and headlight design, complemented by AT tires, giving the vehicle a strong off-road vibe.
Reportedly, the Deep Blue G318 is positioned as a hardcore off-road SUV, offering optional configurations such as an external spare tire, luggage rack, spotlights, and electric foot pedals, and it comes with towing qualifications.
In terms of dimensions, the Deep Blue G318 measures 4998/1985/1960 millimeters in length, width, and height respectively, with a wheelbase of 2880 millimeters, surpassing models like the Leopard 5 and Tank 300 in both body length and wheelbase.
In terms of power, the Deep Blue G318 is equipped with a 1.5T extended-range engine, with dual motors installed at the front and rear, delivering a total system power of 316 kW.
The vehicle also features a "tank turn" function similar to the one found in the FANGJIAN Leopard 5, achieved by intermittently locking the rear wheels to reduce the turning radius.
According to Changan's plan, the Deep Blue G318 is set to be launched in the second quarter, with pricing expected to be around 300,000 CNY.
