However, the latest reports indicate a different strategy. Instead of increasing investment in China, Cook is reportedly considering expanding iPhone production lines in India. This shift is attributed to Huawei's growing dominance, which has diminished China's market potential.
According to a report by Bloomberg, Apple assembled iPhones worth $14 billion in India in the last fiscal year, doubling its output and accounting for over 14% of Apple's total iPhone production, creating 150,000 direct job opportunities in India.

Analysis suggests that the main reason is Huawei's resurgence, leading many Chinese consumers to opt for Huawei smartphones. Coupled with the rise of brands like Xiaomi, Vivo, Honor, and OPPO, Apple's market share in China continues to shrink. In contrast, India not only offers lower production costs but is also perceived to have a vast market. Hence, Apple has chosen India as its primary battleground for the time being.
