Recently, the Ministry of Water Resources held a commendation conference to award certificates to the winners of the 8th Young Water Conservancy Science and Technology Talents, encouraging them to cherish their honors, strive harder, and continue to play a leading role in demonstrating the advancement of water resources to ensure high-quality development and safeguard water security in China.

According to the newly revised "Measures for the Selection, Cultivation, and Management of Young Water Conservancy Science and Technology Talents," young water conservancy science and technology talents are generally selected once every two years, with the number of selections not exceeding 20 each time. Candidates should be under the age of 40, with appropriate consideration given to candidates from grassroots and central and western regions. Through procedures such as unit recommendation, expert evaluation, and public announcement, Wang Zhiyuan and 19 others were selected as the 8th Young Water Conservancy Science and Technology Talents.

Officials from the Ministry of Water Resources emphasized that relevant units should effectively strengthen the utilization and cultivation of selected talents, providing support in team building, research conditions, funding support, learning exchange, and benefits guarantee. They should also provide opportunities for practical exercises in major scientific research projects, major planning, and major engineering construction, supporting them to take on significant roles.

It is understood that since the initiation of the selection of young water conservancy science and technology talents by the Ministry of Water Resources in 1996, a total of 90 young water conservancy science and technology talents have been selected over eight sessions.

Dai Jiangyu, one of the winners of the 8th Young Water Conservancy Science and Technology Talents, said, "It is a great honor to continue injecting fresh blood and vibrant energy into the high-quality development of water conservancy alongside batches of young water conservancy science and technology talents, outstanding young talents in water conservancy, and innovative teams led by young talents."
