On April 30th, as the May Day holiday approaches, the evening rush hour has arrived. Navigation apps show that many parts of the country have entered a congested mode, with major traffic arteries all turning "red".
Some netizens commented: "It seems like all the cars in Wuhan are out today, the map is red and purple" "Underestimated the extent of traffic jams on May Day" "The way to start the May Day holiday is with traffic jams" and so on.
Many netizens share their experiences of being stuck in traffic on their way home.
According to media reports, the Road Network Center of the Ministry of Transport recently released the "Analysis Report on the Operation of the National Highway Network during the May Day Holiday in 2024." The total volume of national highway travel during the holiday is large, with peak traffic volumes highlighted.
The report predicts that during the May Day holiday, the daily average traffic volume of small passenger cars on national highways will be around 57.5 million vehicles.
According to the analysis, the sections of national highways prone to congestion and slow traffic during the "May Day" holiday are:

- Guang'ao Expressway from Minzhong Service Area to Tanwei Interchange
- Chengyu Ring Expressway from Wangjiaping Interchange to Qingmuguan Tunnel
- Hushan Expressway from Beiheng Yin Bridge to Changxing Island Service Area
