The inaugural "Dream Calling" Science and Art Symposium Held in Beijing

Attendees at this seminar included academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and mathematician Yan Jia'an, former Party Secretary and Executive Deputy Director of the Capital Museum Cui Xue'an, Honorary Chairman of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Literature and Art Association, Honorary Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts and Sciences, Honorary Academician of the Italian Academy of Art Research, and poet Guo Yuefang, Executive Director of the Li Zhengdao Science and Art Center at the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor Zhu Wei, Chief Researcher of the National Astronomical Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences - Dark Matter and Dark Energy Group Chen Xuelei, librarian of the Hunan Museum of Literature and History, Vice President of the Hunan Poetry Society, and poet Xiong Dong'ao, researcher at the Chinese Academy of Art Research, doctoral supervisor, and editor-in-chief of "Art Studies" Sun Xiaoxia, Deputy Director and Associate Researcher of the Photography and Digital Art Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Art Research Institute Li Zhen, Deputy Head of the Poetry Group of the Chongqing Museum of Literature and History, and painter Mei Shuying, responsible person of Poetic Visits Ancient Culture Media Wu Jie, and Deputy Director of the Science Communication Center of the China Science Daily Ju Siting. According to Wu Jie, the "Dream Awakening" science and art series activities were jointly planned by herself and Ju Siting in 2018. Mr. Ye Jiaying was invited as an honorary consultant and inscriber. In the subsequent discussion session, experts at the meeting shared their experiences and insights on the theme of "Science and Art." Yan Jia'an emphasized that in the process of exploring the integration of science and art, the aim should be to "promote the scientific spirit, facilitate the exchange between science and art, uphold the mission of public welfare, and pursue eternal truth." Guo Yuefang pointed out that science and art share a common pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty. He suggested nurturing professional talents to drive industry development, and proposed the establishment of scientific and artistic research institutions when the time is ripe. Zhu Wei reviewed the history of art development, stating that scientific progress has always been a crucial external factor driving the development and improvement of art. The advancement of scientific and technological means has revolutionized artistic expression time and time again. Xiong Dong'ao, Chen Xuelei, Sun Xiaoxia, Li Zhen, Mei Shuying, and others shared their thoughts and insights on topics such as writing traditional poetry in the technological era, the intrinsic relationship between poetry and the physical world, contemporary insights on the relationship between art and technology during the Renaissance, the digital development of contemporary science and art, and innovation in traditional painting, each from their respective professional fields. In the closing remarks of the sharing session, Cui Xue'an specifically expressed the hope to see the establishment of future "Science and Art Museums," encouraging colleagues to further broaden the boundaries of science and art, as they complement each other for mutual development.
