On May 10th, according to the blogger Digital Chat Station, Xiaomi 15 is still positioned as a small screen flagship, with a screen size between 6.3-6.4 inches, equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen4 platform, and a square Deco triple camera module on the top left of the back, with the main camera being 50 million pixels, supporting ultrasonic screen fingerprint.
This is the industry's first Snapdragon 8 Gen4 small screen flagship, and also the most powerful Xiaomi phone in history.
Compared to its predecessor, the Xiaomi 15 is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen4 upgraded to TSMC's 3nm process, marking the official entry of the Android camp into the 3nm era.
Moreover, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen4 will adopt its in-house Nuvia architecture instead of using the Arm reference design, marking a significant change in the history of Qualcomm Snapdragon 5G SoCs.
Additionally, the Xiaomi 15 introduces ultrasonic fingerprint unlocking for the first time. Compared to traditional optical fingerprint solutions, ultrasonic technology offers advantages such as strong penetration, resistance to water and dirt interference, high recognition rates, support for live detection, and higher security.
When a finger presses the screen, sensors beneath the screen emit ultrasonic waves to the pressed area. The ultrasonic waves interact differently with the ridges and valleys of the fingerprint, leading to variations in absorption, penetration, and reflection. These differences generate echoes of different energies received by the sensor, thus creating a 3D fingerprint image.
