On March 20th, the first national meteorological popular science and innovation core school community - the Shanghai Meteorological Popular Science and Innovation Core School Community (hereinafter referred to as the "Core School Community") was officially established.
With the aim of "building dreams through innovation and jointly nurturing talents", the Core School Community will connect various levels of meteorological education resources, and carry out comprehensive, in-depth, and long-term cooperation in youth meteorological science and innovation education. By forming a team of meteorological instructors in core schools, sharing interdisciplinary meteorological teaching resources, jointly promoting the cultivation of meteorological science and innovation talents in core schools, conducting meteorological popular science and innovation exchanges, meteorological volunteer services, expert lectures on meteorology, meteorological summer camps for research and study, meteorological science and innovation project guidance, etc., it will continuously consolidate ideas, spread influence, and build an additive education chain for meteorological science, empowering the long-term cultivation of meteorological talents with innovative spirit and practical ability.
"Campus meteorological popular science and innovation is a noble cause that benefits the present and the future growth of students." Zhang Renhe, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and dean of the Institute of Atmospheric Sciences at Fudan University, said that the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences at Fudan University will provide excellent mentor team resources to the Core School Community, open up first-class laboratories and observation bases, and let outstanding primary and secondary school students experience the humanistic environment and scientific atmosphere of Fudan University in advance, broaden their horizons, enhance their confidence, and inspire their lofty ideals of serving the country through science and technology.
The Core School Community was jointly established by the Shanghai Meteorological Society and the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences at Fudan University, "joining hands" with 18 Shanghai meteorological education characteristic schools such as Qibao Middle School, further exploring the "large-medium-small" meteorological discipline integration and cultivation model from primary to secondary and tertiary education levels, and providing a Shanghai demonstration for the nationwide implementation of the "large-medium-small" integrated talent cultivation model.
Last year, with the support and witness of the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau and the Shanghai Association for Science and Technology, the Shanghai Meteorological Society, the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences at Fudan University, and Qibao Middle School Education Group signed a joint agreement on "Youth Meteorological Science and Innovation Talent Cultivation". Starting from a joint agreement, the Core School Community has continuously brought together 18 Shanghai meteorological education characteristic schools, narrowing the distance between old friends and making new ones, revitalizing and expanding the "circle of friends" for communication and cooperation, and becoming an important platform for promoting meteorological science education.
In the future, the Core School Community will comprehensively promote the high-quality development of education, science and technology, and talents, making meteorological science education that is jointly built, shared, and multidirectionally flowing, with excellent teaching and learning, become the soil and cornerstone for promoting the progress of meteorological science and achieving innovative development in meteorology.
