The 7.0T MRI, with its ultra-high resolution imaging of living anatomical tissues, metabolic imaging, multi-nuclear imaging, and other technologies, has greatly enhanced the diagnostic capabilities for neurological and psychiatric diseases, musculoskeletal disorders, vascular diseases, tumors, and provided a new dimension for disease mechanism research, aiming for more precise diagnosis and treatment.
Dr. Liao Weihua, Director of Radiology at Xiangya Hospital, introduced that the use of 7.0T ultra-high-field MRI can effectively improve the sensitivity and specificity of diagnosing diseases such as cerebral small vessel disease, epilepsy, tumors, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and joint cartilage. The imaging information can optimize the diagnosis and treatment pathways for various diseases and provide rich imaging information for the formulation of personalized treatment plans for patients. For example, in the case of epilepsy, compared to 3T, 7T MRI can detect an additional 43% of epileptic foci, enabling more drug-resistant epilepsy patients to undergo surgical treatment and overcome the burden of the disease.
Academician Wang Zhenchang, from the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Vice President of Beijing Friendship Hospital affiliated with Capital Medical University, stated that 7T MRI technology, as a cutting-edge technology in contemporary medical imaging diagnosis, has opened a new chapter in exploring the internal world of the human body with its unparalleled high resolution and accuracy. Its implementation will not only greatly enhance the diagnostic capabilities and levels of disease but also provide stronger support for medical research.

Following the opening ceremony, Xiangya Medical Imaging Department held a symposium and 7T MRI Summit Forum, where academicians and experts delivered reports on topics such as "Demand-Driven Neuroimaging Research," "Discovery and Reflection on Neuroimaging Markers of Mental Disorders," and "Exploration of Clinical Research Applications of Ultra-High-Field 7T MRI," delving into the principles, advantages, challenges, and future development directions of 7T MRI technology.
