The Establishment of City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan)

On April 16, the Ministry of Education issued a letter to the Guangdong Provincial People's Government, approving the formal establishment of the independent legal entity Mainland-Hong Kong cooperative educational institution - City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan). It is reported that the university has now initiated undergraduate and graduate admissions and is scheduled to commence classes in September this year.

In early 2020, the Dongguan Municipal People's Government, City University of Hong Kong, and Dongguan University of Technology signed an agreement to jointly establish the City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan). In June 2022, the Ministry of Education approved the preparation for the establishment of the City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan). City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) will adhere to the educational philosophy of "uniting teaching and research" of City University of Hong Kong, integrating academic standards from its counterpart to ensure consistent quality. "Infinite Innovation" will serve as the driving force behind talent cultivation throughout the entire educational process. The initial undergraduate programs include Computer Science and Technology, Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, and Energy and Power Engineering. Additionally, there are 10 master's programs covering Computer Science, Electronic Information Engineering, Materials Engineering and Nanotechnology, Mechanical Engineering, Energy and Environment, Business Information Systems, Civil and Architectural Engineering, Engineering Management, Biomedical Engineering, and Data Science.
