The 2nd "Flood Control and Drought Relief: You, Me, and Him" Science Popularization Creative Contest was officially launched at the opening ceremony of the 14th Flood Control and Drought Relief Informatization Forum held in Fuzhou on March 26th.

The event also unveiled the exclusive logo for the competition and issued a notification for the second edition of the competition.

During the launch segment of the competition, leaders in attendance jointly activated the launch mechanism, officially declaring the commencement of the second "Flood and Drought Prevention: You, Me, and Others" Science Popularization Creative Competition.

It is understood that the competition is guided by the Department of Flood and Drought Disaster Prevention of the Ministry of Water Resources. It is jointly organized by the Flood and Drought Disaster Prevention Center of the Ministry of Water Resources, China Water Resources and Hydropower Press Media Group Co., Ltd., and the "China Flood and Drought Prevention" magazine. Beijing Zhongshui Media Culture Co., Ltd. is responsible for organizing the competition. The competition, running from March 26 to September 30, 2024, is open to the whole society for the submission of short video works, with the evaluation taking place in October and the announcement of the winners in November and December.

Utilizing the format of short videos, the competition revolves around the theme of "Popularizing Flood and Drought Prevention Knowledge" and the special topic of "Historical and Cultural Aspects of Flood and Drought Prevention," aiming to disseminate basic knowledge of flood and drought disasters, disaster prevention, mitigation, and relief concepts, regulations, policies, and technical methods for flood and drought disaster prevention. It also focuses on ancient flood and drought prevention engineering and technology, precious anecdotes and hydrological culture in flood and drought prevention, and the cultural implications of symbiotic coexistence between people and rivers.

Approximately 200 leaders and representatives from water management institutions of various river basins under the Ministry of Water Resources, relevant directly affiliated units of the Ministry, provincial (autonomous region, municipality directly under the central government) water (water affairs) departments (bureaus), and relevant research institutes attended the opening ceremony.
