Approved by the State Council, the 2024 Zhongguancun Forum will be held for the first time at its newly constructed permanent venue from April 25th to 29th. This year's annual theme is "Innovation: Building a Better World," emphasizing its high-end positioning and highlighting national and international aspects.
On March 19th, the State Council Information Office held a series of themed press conferences on "Promoting High-Quality Development." Yu Yingjie, member of the Standing Committee of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee, Secretary of the Education Working Committee, and member of the Municipal Government Party Group, introduced that the forum will continue to be jointly hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the China Association for Science and Technology, and the Beijing Municipal Government. Nearly ten ministries and commissions, including UNESCO, WIPO, the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation, and the Ministry of Education, support the event.
The 2024 Zhongguancun Forum will adhere to its goal-oriented approach, placing greater emphasis on effectiveness and leadership, closely following international trends in scientific and technological development. It will feature five main sections, including the opening ceremony and plenary session, nearly 60 parallel forums, the Zhongguancun International Technology Trade Fair, and the Zhongguancun International Frontier Science and Technology Competition. Additionally, the forum will release a series of major scientific and technological innovation achievements to showcase the effectiveness of Beijing's international scientific and technological innovation construction. Beyond the main session, there will also be a series of regular activities throughout the year. Since the beginning of this year, 28 events have been held focusing on topics such as large-scale model applications, cell and gene therapy, and quantum computing.
"In general, the preparations for the 2024 Zhongguancun Forum are proceeding in an orderly manner. We will strive to make the forum a splendid and effective global exchange and cooperation event for scientific and technological innovation," said Yu Yingjie.
