Recently, the 2024 China Health Science and Technology Innovation and Discipline Construction Conference, as well as the Conference on the High-Quality Development of Chinese-Style Modern Hospitals, was held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. The conference aims to provide a high-level academic exchange platform, bringing together experts and scholars in the field of health from both domestic and international backgrounds to discuss the latest trends and developments in technology innovation and discipline construction. They aim to share successful experiences to provide intellectual support and a source of motivation for advancing the construction of Chinese-style modern hospitals.
Zhejiang Province Vice Governor Lu Shan stated that Zhejiang Province has already achieved significant research results in structural biology, gene editing, brain-machine integration, new drug development, high-end medical equipment, and digital healthcare. In the next step, Zhejiang Province will continue to enhance innovation in health technology and discipline construction, strengthen high-level scientific and technological innovation platforms, cultivate high-level medical talents, tackle challenging medical issues, and overall elevate the level of health development in the province, providing a solid foundation for leading the way and writing a new chapter in health.
Cai Xiujun, Director of the Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital affiliated with Zhejiang University School of Medicine, emphasized that the hospital always takes the responsibility for people's health, focusing on developing new paths that lead the discipline with minimally invasive techniques in response to national strategic needs and public health demands. In the future, the hospital aims to consolidate and develop new achievements, continuously innovate and pursue excellence in quality, steadily advance in technological innovation, discipline construction, talent cultivation, and drive medical development through innovation.
Subsequently, Deng Haihua, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Health Times, Wang Renyuan, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Zhejiang Provincial Health Commission, Huang Hefeng, Dean of Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Ren Shaobo, Secretary of the Party Committee of Zhejiang University, Chen Weiwen, Chairman of the Shaw Foundation, and Richard Hart, President of the Linda University in the United States, delivered speeches.
Furthermore, the conference invited keynote speakers including Badrinath, Honorary Dean of Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Du Jiangfeng, President of Zhejiang University, Song Erwei, Director of the School of Medicine at Sun Yat-sen University, Fan Jia, Director of Zhongshan Hospital affiliated with Fudan University, and George Pascal, Chairman of the International Department of Myou Medical and Chief Medical Officer for the Americas.
The conference, jointly organized by Health Times and the Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital affiliated with Zhejiang University School of Medicine, is held annually. The event includes nine sub-forums on topics such as the construction of modern Chinese hospitals, promoting health and common prosperity through Party building, leading peak discipline construction with minimally invasive techniques, opportunities and challenges of international modern medical care, health communication and disease management, digital medicine and smart healthcare, advanced seminars on reproductive medicine progress, seminars on medical education innovation transformation, and innovative empowerment of magnetic care.
