According to official sources from China Railway, on May 23, in Suifenhe City, Heilongjiang Province, the reconstruction project of the Binzhou-Suifenhe Railway to the border line has commenced.

This also marks the official start of the expansion and transformation construction of the rear channels of the Suifenhe, Manzhouli, and Tongjiang railway ports, which are part of the "East Passage" for the China-Europe freight trains. s_a4e05c76dafc4df681cc2f9a66358501.jpg The Binbei Railway, originally known as the Eastern Line of the China Eastern Railway, starts from Harbin and ends at the Sino-Russian border city of Suifenhe. It spans 495 kilometers and has a history of over a century, with construction commencing on June 9, 1898, and the entire line being completed on March 3, 1901. s_6130d3a851f64b818dea28214f3fc7b5.png

Suifenhe City is located in the center of the Northeast Asia Economic Circle. It is the largest railway transportation channel to Russia in Heilongjiang Province and a crucial gateway for the China-Europe Railway Express "Eastern Route." The railway port here has an annual cargo volume exceeding 10 million tons, with nearly 900 China-Europe freight trains passing through each year, carrying goods in around 88,000 containers.

The renovation project of the Suifenhe to the national border section of the Binsui Railway, located in Suifenhe City and the eastern section of the Binsui Railway, is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

The existing railway line has steep gradients and tight curves, limiting train speeds to only 55 kilometers per hour. After the reconstruction, the design speed will increase to 120 kilometers per hour, more than doubling the capacity and effectively resolving the transportation bottleneck.

This year, China will also start the renovation projects of the Binzhou Railway from Boketu to Xilingkou and the Jiamusi to Tongjiang Railway, enhancing the network capacity to meet the demands of China-Europe freight trains at the Suifenhe, Manzhouli, and Tongjiang railway ports. This effort aims to establish a new frontier for opening up to the north in Heilongjiang, serving the development of the China-Europe freight trains towards higher quality, better efficiency, and increased safety. s_a43412734c3643eabc85fa6581d1554d.jpg
