On April 22nd, Tesla's official Weibo account announced a celebratory milestone: the official 10th anniversary of its presence in China, expressing heartfelt gratitude to each and every owner.
Tesla currently boasts over 1.7 million owners in China alone, contributing to its global user base surpassing 6 million. In its statement, Tesla expressed gratitude to every partner contributing to the development of the new energy industry.
It's reported that the first batch of 15 Tesla owners in China were personally delivered by Elon Musk himself. Among these owners were prominent figures such as Li Xiang, the founder of NIO, Jack Xu, the chairman of UC, and Yu Yongfu, an investor in XPeng Motors.
Interestingly, William Li, the founder of NIO, was also among these fortunate owners, although he couldn't be present due to unforeseen circumstances.
Other lucky owners included Wang Dongfeng, CEO of Youxia Motors, Pan Yanming, Vice President of Times Group, Xu Liang, CEO of Unity Capital, Zhang Han, a producer at CCTV, Dong Xiaoli, General Manager of Sanyi Investment, Yin Xidi, son of Yin Mingshan, founder of Lifan Group, Cao Guowei, CEO of Sina, Liang Jianzhang, founder of Ctrip, Yu Gang, founder of Yihaodian, Zhang Ruiping, Chairman and CEO of eHi Car Services, Shao Qingxiao, Managing Partner of MC China Fund, and Wang Xiaolan, President of Times Group.
Looking back, on July 10, 2018, Tesla signed a cooperation agreement with the Shanghai municipal government and the Lingang Management Committee to build a wholly-owned Tesla Gigafactory in the Lingang area, integrating functions such as research and development, manufacturing, and sales.
On December 30, 2019, Tesla officially delivered domestically produced Model 3 vehicles to employee owners at the Shanghai factory, marking further development for Tesla in the Chinese market.
