Tesla Reclaims Title as World's Largest EV Manufacturer, Surpassing BYD in First Quarter Sales

On April 3rd, Tesla once again overtook BYD, securing its position as the world's leading electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer for the first quarter of the year. According to the latest figures, Tesla delivered 386,810 vehicles in the first quarter, while BYD's deliveries of pure electric vehicles (BEVs) stood at 300,114.

Tesla had held this title for most of last year but was surpassed by BYD in the fourth quarter. It's reported that Tesla's deliveries have decreased by 8.5% year-over-year, slightly down from 422,875 vehicles in the first quarter of 2023, and saw a roughly 20.2% decrease from the fourth quarter.

In contrast, BYD's delivery numbers also dropped by 43% from its record high of 526,409 pure electric vehicles in the fourth quarter, yet it still marked a 36% increase compared to the first quarter of 2023. s_03211963ad294d58837dd0e64d79d888.jpg
