On March 9th, it was revealed that Tesla stands out in the field of autonomous driving for its unique commitment to a pure vision solution, unlike many domestic manufacturers that utilize a "fusion perception" approach with lidar. However, one brand firmly follows Tesla's lead in employing pure vision: Xpeng Motors.
Recently, Xpeng officially announced that it has been granted China's first L3 autonomous driving test license in Optics Valley, allowing it to conduct conditional autonomous driving road tests in designated areas.
Furthermore, the L3 intelligent connected road test in Optics Valley has been officially initiated. According to the plan, by 2024, Xpeng's PPA Smart Driving will be deployable nationwide, covering 100% of the country's expressways and elevated roads.
Currently, Jiyue 01 has achieved the first domestic "onboarding" of a pure visual OCC occupation network, and the high-end intelligent driving point-to-point navigation assistance PPA based on "pure vision" is about to be available nationwide.
The most revolutionary aspect of the OCC occupation network "onboarding" is the improvement in perception and recognition capabilities, enabling precise 3D depiction of obstacles with model accuracy reaching centimeter-level, comparable to or even surpassing LiDAR.
Simultaneously, the OCC occupation network achieves a speed recognition accuracy for moving obstacles within a range of 0.1 meters/second, significantly enhancing the recognition capability of general obstacles with certain lengths such as fences, guardrails, traffic cones, and construction barriers, allowing for effective avoidance and braking, thus leaving more safety driving distance.
With the continuous OTA onboarding of OCC occupation network technology, Jiyue has now formed a complete high-end intelligent driving system of "BEV+OCC+Transformer," greatly enhancing the pure visual intelligent driving's ability to recognize irregular obstacles and generalize scenes, enabling automotive robots to truly gain perceptual "intuition" and further enhancing the driving experience.
Jiyue's point-to-point navigation assistance PPA has already covered over 400,000 kilometers of roads nationwide, with over 90% of highways and overpasses across the country accessible through high-speed PPA. Urban PPA, pioneering in the country with pure visual capabilities, has successfully navigated major urban roads in Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, and Hangzhou.
