On April 17th, it was reported that Tesla's global mass layoffs have drawn industry attention.

According to domestic media reports, the layoffs in Tesla's China region cover multiple departments, with some departments having completed the layoffs, and sales personnel being the hardest hit.

A Tesla salesperson told the media that most of the laid-off employees had worked for less than six months.

"These individuals are compensated according to the formula '0.5N+3'. Since Tesla's base salary is relatively high, the compensation received is approximately 40,000 to 50,000 yuan." (N represents years of service, with less than six months counted as 0.5N)

Another laid-off Tesla employee revealed that on the afternoon of April 16th, internal employees began to receive resignation notices and complete the procedures. The compensation amount was 'N+3', with a 20% layoff rate in their department, and the layoff process has been completed.

In addition, the widespread layoffs at Tesla this time reportedly also affected the Shanghai factory. Employees at the Tesla Gigafactory Shanghai in Pudong Lingang have received official emails, and many employees have started discussing layoffs and compensation in WeChat groups.

Regarding the reasons for the layoffs, Tesla stated that with the company's rapid growth, some roles and functions have become redundant.

However, some industry insiders believe that Tesla's layoffs are related to declining sales and unmet expectations for future vehicle demand.

Data shows that Tesla delivered 386,810 vehicles in the first quarter, an 8.5% year-on-year decrease, and a more than 20% quarter-on-quarter decrease. This is the first time in nearly four years that Tesla's deliveries have seen a year-on-year decline in a quarter. s_1422da8012f94d359b0843ff63fc75df.png
