On April 18th, the "Tencent Docs, Unleashing Imagination" 2024 product launch was held online. Xianqing Yan, General Manager of Tencent’s Social Collaboration Products Department and head of Tencent Docs, introduced several new offerings including an innovative smart whiteboard, a dual-core editing "Kaiwu Engine," and a cloud-client solution product matrix. He stated that under the foundation of self-developed document categories and dual-core engines, Tencent Docs has fully integrated an AI assistant, aiming to provide a professional and intelligent Office product experience to enhance productivity for users and enterprises. Additionally, one year after initiating commercial trials, Tencent Docs has surpassed 1 million individual paying users and more than 20,000 businesses and organizations have become paying clients.

New Product Capabilities Including Smart Whiteboard and Mobile AI Assistant Released

During the launch, Tencent Docs introduced a new category in its product matrix—the smart whiteboard. This tool features an infinitely expandable canvas that offers a rich array of graphic components and supports free-form partitioned editing. It enables users to visually express various ideas and creative thoughts. The smart whiteboard is extensively used in scenarios such as project presentations, brainstorming sessions, and online teaching. For example, customers in the gaming industry use this limitless canvas for brainstorming, planning game levels, interface design, and development progress management, all depicted on the canvas to enhance collaboration efficiency and bridge communication gaps. Tencent Docs has now completed its coverage of ten major native document categories, fully compatible with Office and adhering to the PDF international document format standards, while also catering to users’ diverse creative needs in innovative documents. 8b5c7d95-1e74-4dc6-93ba-8f69c6a23c4b.png With the continuous evolution of AI technology, Tencent Docs' intelligent assistant can generate high-quality content with just a "single sentence" command. Users can activate the assistant on both desktop and mobile versions of Tencent Docs to not only create documents across various categories but also handle cross-category information processing, efficiently meeting diverse work demands. Specifically, in Word, it can engage in theme creation, continuation writing, and polishing; in Excel, it aids in managing complex data by automatically writing functions, generating charts intelligently, and producing analytical reports; it can also create PowerPoint presentations and speeches from outlines or mind maps, complete with layout enhancements. 37ad968a-9c4e-4f77-ba86-c3d90bf42591.png Equipped with the proprietary Kaiwu Engine, Tencent Docs can now offer low-cost professional compatibility and stable content creation.

Yan Xianqing stated that the continuous upgrade of Tencent Docs' capabilities is due to the in-house developed dual-core engine—the Kaiwu Engine. This engine facilitates seamless transitions between various document formats, supporting both browser and client access for viewing and collaborative editing of the same document. It ensures compatibility between online and offline documents and enhances cloud storage and collaboration response speeds.

With this engine, Tencent Docs can open 90% of documents within two seconds and allows for the smooth handling of large documents and spreadsheets. It ensures consistent user experience and format between local and cloud usage, and improves the fluidity of multi-user viewing and editing. Furthermore, the engine's atomic incremental mechanism minimizes storage consumption due to frequent updates in collaborative documents, maintaining complete histories and revision records while drastically reducing cloud storage space. For instance, maintaining 100 versions of a document saves about 90% of the space that traditional Office data would use, significantly reducing storage costs for businesses and individuals.

Besides enhancing cloud service management, the newly released Tencent Docs client is also based on the upgraded Kaiwu Engine technology. In the Tencent Docs client, users can create and open local Office files with a single click and use all features offline. Additionally, the client includes intelligent document caching, voice dictation, OCR scanning, and other functions to facilitate a variety of office scenarios. Moreover, Tencent Docs client introduces a new local mode, which is completely isolated from cloud data; it continues to enhance account and device security measures to protect user data assets comprehensively. 200eb275-a530-4d66-a803-581961dc7bd8.png The service enterprise has exceeded 1.2 million users, propelling various industries towards digital transformation at an accelerated pace.
