On March 16th, Taobao announced its collaboration with merchants to enhance the free shipping experience in Xinjiang. The initial phase has already made available millions of free shipping items for Xinjiang users, which are conveniently curated in the "Xinjiang Free Shipping" channel on the Taobao homepage.
Additionally, Taobao has kicked off a week-long free shipping and giveaway event exclusively for Xinjiang users, offering 5 million red packets and free shipping coupons.
Taobao has announced that the "Free Shipping to Xinjiang" channel will operate long-term. Currently, the channel covers a wide range of products including clothing, fast-moving consumer goods, food, household cleaning supplies, and more. Whether it's snacks for a few bucks or jewelry worth thousands, all items are eligible for free shipping to Xinjiang.
Furthermore, both in Taobao's search results and on product detail pages, users can easily identify the "Free Shipping to Xinjiang" exclusive label, making it convenient for Xinjiang consumers to filter and purchase products.
It's worth noting that Taobao, in collaboration with its courier partners, has established Xinjiang consolidation centers in Hangzhou and Xi'an. Through the consolidation and shipping model, logistics costs for non-free shipping orders to Xinjiang have decreased by 80%.
Since the launch of the consolidation centers in October last year, the preferential consolidation model has gradually gained traction among Xinjiang consumers and businesses. Currently, the monthly parcel volume handled by Taobao's Xinjiang consolidation centers has reached 4.3 times the volume of the first month of operation.
