On May 27th, it was announced during a live broadcast by Wei Jianjun, Chairman of Great Wall Motors, that the Tank 300 will introduce a 2.4T diesel engine version.
It is reported that this engine is currently widely used in models such as the Great Wall Cannon, Mountain Sea Cannon, and the upcoming all-new generation of the Haval H9.
Currently, the Tank 300 offers various power configurations including 2.0T, 2.0T Hi4-T, and 3.0T V6, with an official price range of 199,800 to 330,000 yuan.
The upcoming new model will be equipped with a 2.4T diesel engine, model GW4D24, with a maximum power of 135 kilowatts and peak torque of 480 Newton-meters.
Compared to gasoline engines, diesel engines have advantages in torque output, thermal efficiency, and fuel economy, making them particularly suitable for off-road scenarios.
Since its debut in July 2020, the Tank 300 has introduced derivative models such as Iron Knight, Cyber Tank, Cyber Knight, and Border Edition.
The 2024 gasoline models feature a 2.0T engine with a maximum power of 162 kilowatts and are equipped with a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission.
The mild hybrid version combines a 2.0T engine with a 48-volt mild hybrid system, delivering a maximum power of 180 kilowatts and paired with Great Wall Motors' self-developed 9-speed automatic transmission.
Recently, Tank 300 has introduced the Tank 330 with a 3.0T V6 engine and the Tank 300 Hi4-T with a 2.0T plug-in hybrid system.
Tank's Deputy General Manager, Gu Yukun, has mentioned that Tank will adopt a collaborative approach to launch the diesel version of Tank 300.
Some users have suggested that in addition to the diesel engine, Tank 300 should also increase the fuel tank capacity or offer an optional auxiliary fuel tank.
In terms of sales, Tank 300 currently has a monthly average sales volume of about 6000 units, with sales reaching 6951 units in April. The introduction of the new diesel version is expected to further boost sales growth.
