News on March 8th, the Beijing Automobile's BJ40 has officially launched a new model, with the official guide price set at 227,800 CNY.
From what we've gathered, the newly introduced model comes equipped with a 2.0T engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Furthermore, enhancements have been made to the chassis and suspension, significantly improving its off-road capabilities.
Visually, the new vehicle maintains a consistent design with the current models on the market, featuring a square and rugged aesthetic.
In terms of performance, compared to the currently available models, this vehicle incorporates enhancements such as front axle electronic control differential lock, rear axle electronic control differential lock, central differential (with locking function), towing capabilities, and a reinforced all-terrain chassis.
Additionally, it employs a front reinforced double-wishbone independent suspension and a rear reinforced multi-link non-independent suspension.
Regarding the configuration, electric side steps have been added, while the forward cross-traffic warning/braking, intersection assistance, highway driving assistance, integrated front and rear safety air curtains, roof rack, queen co-driver, ANC active noise cancellation, in-car intelligent air system, streaming rearview mirror, and windshield wiper heating system have been discontinued.
The powertrain of the upgraded Beijing BJ40 still features a 2.0T engine with a maximum power of 180 kilowatts and peak torque of 395 Newton-meters. It is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and comes equipped with an on-demand four-wheel-drive system.
