On May 1st, it was reported by the media that the first 300MW/1800MWh advanced compressed air energy storage power station in Feicheng, Shandong, successfully connected to the grid for power generation.

This power station, supported by the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was invested and constructed by China Energy Storage Engineering Technology Co., Ltd. The research team made breakthroughs in the development process of the 300MW-level compressed air energy storage system, including key technologies such as multi-stage wide-load compressors, multi-stage high-load turbo expanders, high-efficiency supercritical heat storage heat exchangers, and system-wide optimization design and integrated control technologies. These technological breakthroughs enable the power station to operate efficiently and stably.

The successful grid connection and power generation of the power station are attributed to the creatively developed core equipment such as the 300MW multi-stage high-load turbo expander, multi-stage wide-load combined compressors, and efficient compact heat storage heat exchangers. These equipment not only improve the operational efficiency of the power station but also reduce the unit cost of the system. It is reported that the unit cost of the system has decreased by over 30% compared to 100MW systems, with a 100% localization rate of system equipment, achieving complete independent controllability. s_3fdeca402bc04caa91f7e4ababd0567b.jpg The construction scale of the power station reaches 300MW/1800MWh, with a total investment of 14.96 billion yuan and a system's rated design efficiency as high as 72.1%. The station has the ability to discharge continuously for 6 hours, generating an annual output of about 600 million kWh, providing power security for approximately 200,000 to 300,000 households during peak electricity consumption periods.

Furthermore, the station can save about 189,000 tons of standard coal annually, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by around 490,000 tons, and bring significant economic and social benefits.

By fully utilizing the abundant underground salt cavern resources in Feicheng City, Shandong Province, the station achieves large-scale energy storage on the grid side using compressed air as the medium. This energy storage method boasts advantages such as large scale, high efficiency, long lifespan, cleanliness, no pollution, and high safety. The station can provide power grid peak shaving, frequency regulation, phase adjustment, standby power, black start, and other power control functions, effectively supporting the stable and efficient operation of the power system.

The successful grid connection of the advanced 300MW/1800MWh compressed air energy storage power station in Feicheng, Shandong, not only sets a new benchmark for the development of compressed air energy storage but also provides strong support for optimizing China's energy structure and ensuring the stable operation of the power system. s_3375923061304981b2396d0997d908a7.jpg
