As of March 25th, official data reveals that the number of 5G users in China has reached a staggering 851 million households, accounting for almost half of the population.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) points out that in the first two months of this year, the overall growth of China's communication industry remained stable, with the 5G user base surpassing one-fourth of the total.

By the end of February, the combined mobile phone users of the three major basic telecommunication enterprises and China Broadcasting Network Corporation reached 1.746 billion households, with 5G users comprising 48.8%. Mobile internet traffic surged to 487.6 billion GB, marking a 16.6% year-on-year increase. s_cb77b8a713b14063a3c1731d67d4cfcc.png

Current Status of 5G Deployment by Chinese Telecom Giants

Recently, all three major telecom operators have been collectively advancing towards the direction of 5G-A. Yang Jie, Chairman of China Mobile, stated that 5G-A is a transitional step towards 6G and will be deployed in over 300 cities this year with an investment of approximately 15 billion CNY.

"The deployment of 5G has three main characteristics, including high speed, low latency, and massive connectivity. 6G will build upon these three characteristics by adding three more: ubiquitous sensing, integrated intelligence, and seamless integration of virtual and physical worlds. However, the investment in 5G-A will not see a significant increase because it builds upon the foundation of 5G rather than starting from scratch," Yang Jie explained. s_b5c51dcdadfb4c8bb7d493db5c7add95.jpg
