SteamOS 3.6.0 Preview Released, LCD Version of Steam Deck Gets Overclocking Support

Valve has released the preview update of SteamOS 3.6.0 for the Steam Deck handheld device on May 10th. Desktop:

  • Updated to KDE Plasma 5.27.10
  • Enabled video thumbnail previews in the file browser
  • Fixed desktop usage issue that could lead to subsequent microSD card auto-mount failures

Steam Deck Dock:

  • Added support for three HDMI CEC functions: TV remote control input, TV wake-up, and TV input switching
  • Firmware update to fix compatibility issues with high refresh rate VRR displays

BIOS:

  • Added overclocking control for Steam Deck LCD
  • Fixed issue where SD card couldn't be set as default boot device
  • Adjusted thresholds for power LED lights under slow charging
  • Fixed erratic blinking of power LED lights in S5 power state

SteamOS 3.6.0 preview version also simplified the process of saving system / etc file configuration modifications, but this version may experience sound driver crashes during frequent session switches, requiring a system restart when this occurs.
